Things to know when applying to be a substitute.
To become a substitute teacher with York School District One, the following steps must be completed:
- Complete Classified District Application and submit to the District Office (see on-line application under District Information/Personnel and at District Office)
- Attend one of the YSD1 Substitute Teacher Orientations at the District Office from 8:30 - 12:00 PM. There are no other Substitute Orientation meetings scheduled for the remainder of the 2009-10 school year. Prior to the next school year, an announcement will be made regarding upcoming orientation sesssions.
Requirements
- Elementary and Middle Schools (must be 18 years of age)
- Secondary Schools (must be 21 years of age)
- High School Credential
- Substitute Teacher Pay Schedule
- $50.00 per day - High School Diploma
- $55.00 per day - College Degree (4 yrs)
- $60.00 per day - College Degree with valid SC Certification
- $100.00 per day - Long Term Certified Assignments ***
***After the 10th consecutive day substitute teachers designated as "long-term" with current SC teaching certificate will be paid on district salary schedule based upon certification and years experience.
A criminal history search will be conducted for each applicant attending an orientation before placing the applicant's name on the official substitute list. The results of this search will affect employment as a substitute teacher.
