SC School Report Cards Highlights

York School District One proudly announces its outstanding performance in the 2023-2024 South Carolina School Report Cards, reflecting the district’s commitment to Elevate to Excellence. With the dedication of its educators, seven out of eight schools in the district demonstrated notable improvements in overall ratings, marking significant progress toward meeting academic standards and improving student outcomes.

WBTV Hurricane Hugo lineman teaching next generation of utility crews through one-of-kind program

Clover School District and York School District 1 have a partnership through York Technical College in which students are trained to be Utility Line Workers and can go straight into the workforce upon high school graduation. Companies such as Duke Energy, Comporium, York Electric Cooperative, Inc. and Red Wing Shoes sponsor this program and provide equipment for students.

As a part of featuring the 35th Anniversary of Hurricane Hugo, WBTV News recently spotlighted Mr. Don Hamrick who was a ULW during Hurricane Hugo.  Mr. Hamrick has since retired and now trains our ULW students. We are thrilled that "Mr. Don" is being recognized for his lifetime of service to others and greatly appreciate his dedication to his work and our students!

YSD1 Multipliers Award
At the January 2024 YSD1 Board of Trustees meeting, the board recognized three individuals as Multiplier Award recipients.ย  Multipliers offer the absolute best of their thinking, creativity, and ideas. They give more than their job requires and volunteer their discretionary effort, energy, and resourcefulness. Multipliers build collective intelligence and capacity at every level of the organization.

WCNC Mental Health Stronger Connections Grants
Thanks to the dedicated efforts of Lisa Spangler, Coordinator of Special Projects and Grant Writer, and Chad Carper, Director of Student Services, York School District One stands out as the sole local school district to be awarded with the Stronger Connection Grant. This substantial grant, totaling $175,000.00, will be instrumental in facilitating the appointment of two additional mental healthย therapists.

E-Learning Day - January 9, 2024
Due to the potential of high winds that would prevent school buses from safely transporting students to and from school, YSD1 will utilize a ๐—˜-๐—Ÿ๐—˜๐—”๐—ฅ๐—ก๐—œ๐—ก๐—š ๐——๐—”๐—ฌ ๐—ง๐—จ๐—˜๐—ฆ๐——๐—”๐—ฌ, ๐—๐—”๐—ก๐—จ๐—”๐—ฅ๐—ฌ ๐Ÿต, ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฐ. Additionally, all after school activities and athletic events are canceled for Tuesday, January 9, 2024. Teachers will work to provide students with e-learning assignments via Canvas and communicate with parents via Remind and/or email. Thank you for your continued support of York School District One. The safety of our students is our number one priority.

YSD1 Legacy Builders Award
At the December 2023 YSD1 Board of Trustees meeting, the board recognized five individuals as Legacy Builders Award recipients.ย  A legacy is the long-lasting impact of a particular personโ€™s actions and Legacy Builders are ordinary people doing extraordinary things in York School District One. They are change agents who dare to make a difference and who serve as consistent models of the beliefs and commitments of the district. The Legacy Builders Award honors an individualโ€™s work that compliments the York One School's mission to Learn, Serve and Give as ONE.

YSD1 Parenting Partnerships 2023 WhatWorksSC Finalist
York School District One proudly acknowledges and celebrates York School District One Parenting Partnerships and Family Resource Center, for being named among the top four finalists for the prestigious 2023 Dick and Tunky Riley WhatWorksSC Award. The WhatWorksSC Award, presented annually by The Riley Institute at Furman University, recognizes exceptional programs that positively impact public education. Parenting Partnerships is a vital initiative aimed at providing parents with the education, information, and resources needed to meet the developmental needs of their children.
