At the January 2024 YSD1 Board of Trustees meeting, the board recognized three individuals as Multiplier Award recipients.  Multipliers offer the absolute best of their thinking, creativity, and ideas. They give more than their job requires and volunteer their discretionary effort, energy, and resourcefulness. Multipliers build collective intelligence and capacity at every level of the organization.

Thanks to the dedicated efforts of Lisa Spangler, Coordinator of Special Projects and Grant Writer, and Chad Carper, Director of Student Services, York School District One stands out as the sole local school district to be awarded with the Stronger Connection Grant. This substantial grant, totaling $175,000.00, will be instrumental in facilitating the appointment of two additional mental health therapists.

York School District One proudly announces its selection as a finalist for the esteemed National District of Distinction Award in the category of Academic Acceleration. This recognition is a testament to the district's steadfast commitment to innovative competency-based, student-centered learning experiences.

At the December 2023 YSD1 Board of Trustees meeting, the board recognized five individuals as Legacy Builders Award recipients.  A legacy is the long-lasting impact of a particular person’s actions and Legacy Builders are ordinary people doing extraordinary things in York School District One. They are change agents who dare to make a difference and who serve as consistent models of the beliefs and commitments of the district. The Legacy Builders Award honors an individual’s work that compliments the York One School's mission to Learn, Serve and Give as ONE.

York School District One proudly acknowledges and celebrates York School District One Parenting Partnerships and Family Resource Center, for being named among the top four finalists for the prestigious 2023 Dick and Tunky Riley WhatWorksSC Award. The WhatWorksSC Award, presented annually by The Riley Institute at Furman University, recognizes exceptional programs that positively impact public education. Parenting Partnerships is a vital initiative aimed at providing parents with the education, information, and resources needed to meet the developmental needs of their children.

On Saturday, October 7th, 2023 twenty-six Floyd D Johnson Technology Center HOSA members attended NAMI Walks at Cherry Park in Rock Hill. Students were asked to lead the walk and to cheer on the competitors as they came across the finish line. Students definitely brought the energy and were featured in the national NAMIWalks Newsday.

York School District One along with our neighbors in Clover School District are presenting a Transition Fair on October 24th, 2023 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at the Clover District Resource Center. Students who receive special education services in either district and their families are invited to attend. Attendees will recieve information about local services and opportunities available in our area. The Department of Disabilities and Special Needs, Maxabilities, Vocational Rehabilitation, and many more organizations will be in attendance to answer questions, provide resources, and enroll students in necessary services. Additionally, student groups will have merchandise available for purchase.
