Congratulations to Mrs. Amy Hagner, YSD1's Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations, who was named the 2022-2023 Outstanding School Business Official by the South Carolina Association of School Business Officials! This award is presented annually by the South Carolina Association of School Business Officials.
Levi Comer and Brandon Terry, two of our utility lineworker students traveled to Columbia, SC to represent YCHS and FDJTC at the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Day at the Statehouse. Students from all CTE programs shared projects and student organizations happening in their school districts.
February 27-March 3, 2023 is Public Schools Week, which was launched by the members of the Learning First Alliance (LFA) as a way to celebrate and acknowledge the amazing contributions of public schools, administrators, teachers, specialists, parents and school board members who support our nation’s nearly 50 million public school students. Join York One Schools in using #PSW23 on social media posts, as well as the #HereForTheKids.
York One Schools is seeking passionate educators who are eager to #LearnServeGiveasONE! Join us for our Career/Recruitment Fair on March 4, 2023 from 10:00AM to 2:00PM at York Comprehensive High School, 275 Alexander Love Hwy. Representatives from all YSD1 schools will be available and on-site interviews will be held. Attendees are asked to register in advance, however walk-ins are also welcome and encouraged to attend!
YSD1 Special Educators were featured in the Language Circle Enterprises January Newsletter! Language Circle represents the Project Read® curriculum, a complete research-based language arts program which includes instructional materials for phonics, reading comprehension, and writing that arms teachers with alternative instructional strategies that address diverse learning profiles. Project Read® Phonics curriculum is being used in all five of YSD1’s elementary schools. Additionally, all schools K-12 have implemented the Report Form Process reading comprehension curriculum and Framing Your Thoughts® writing process. YSD1 serves over 1,000 students with disabilities with approximately 800 experiencing Project Read® instruction as part of the curriculum.
YSD1 has partnered with Affinity Health Center! Students and staff are invited to use this new School Based Center located at York Middle School, 1010 Devinney Rd (former Technology Center entrance). Open on Mondays, 9:00AM-4:00PM for students and staff.
