Marketing Team SC/NSPRA Rewards for Excellence
On Friday, May 12, 2023 - also National #SchoolCommunicatorsDay - the YSD1 Marketing Team was recognized five times at the SC/NSPRA Rewards for Excellence, including one Best in Show. The YSD1 Marketing Team includes Josh Bovill, Tim Cooper, Becky Funderburk, and Jessica Koon. Together, they manage our social media accounts and website, create special digital and print publications, and work collaboratively and creatively to tell our YSD1 Story. We congratulate them on their success and thank them for sharing student voices, strengthening community ties, and highlighting the incredible things happening in York One Schools.

Lineworker Appreciation Day and Annual Utility Lineworker Rodeo
On Tuesday, April 18th Tyson Blanton with Duke Energy presented a donation to Floyd D. Johnson Technology Center in celebration of National Lineworker Appreciation Day. On Wednesday, April 26th, Floyd D Johnson Technology Center held its 3rd Annual Utility Line Worker Rodeo. Ten students from York One Schools and Clover School District showcased their skills in front of district staff, York Tech staff, and potential employers who have also been partners for the program.

YSD1 Approved to Implement Competency-Based Education Practices by the South Carolina State Board of Education
The South Carolina State Board of Education granted two school districts in the state flexibility to implement competency-based educational practices at their monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, and York School District One is proud to be one of those two districts.!

Student-Centered Learning Showcase at York Middle School
District and school leaders from Rock Hill Schools, Aiken County Public Schools, and Colleton County Schools visited York Middle School on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, for a student-centered learning showcase. Their visit included an overview of the District’s Strategic Change Agenda, professional development efforts, and a focus on York Middle School’s strategic implementation of best practices that resulted in increased achievement and removal from the state’s Priority Schools list and classroom walk-throughs to give the visitors an inside look at student-centered learning in action! The showcase concluded with a panel of York Middle School teachers sharing their instructional strategies and insights and a panel of students who blew the visitors away, sharing many of the engaging learning experiences they have had at York Middle School this year.

2022-2023 Outstanding School Business Official
Congratulations to Mrs. Amy Hagner, YSD1's Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations, who was named the 2022-2023 Outstanding School Business Official by the South Carolina Association of School Business Officials! This award is presented annually by the South Carolina Association of School Business Officials.
