Special services are available for children with special needs. Teachers licensed to provide special education services assist students identified with Autism, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Deaf-blindness, Developmental Delay, Emotional Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, Multiple Disabilities, Orthopedic Impairment, Other Health Impairment, Specific Learning Disability, Speech-Language Impairment, Traumatic Brain Injury, or Visual Impairment. Your child will have a team that includes the student’s parent or legal guardian, teachers, and other school staff. The team will develop an individualized education program (IEP) that will outline a plan for helping the student receive a free appropriate public education and meet goals set by the team. The IEP may include health services for the student during the school day if needed. Parents who have questions concerning special services may call the office of Special Services at 803-684-1905.
