LAUNCH INTO LITERACY EVENT INSPIRES A LOVE OF LITERACY IN KINDERGARTEN FAMILIES
Four and five-year old kindergarten students were invited to a Launch to Literacy event at their school this fall. The event featured fun activities designed to foster a love of reading and model positive reading interactions for families. The event was made possible by funding from the Rotary Club of York, book donations from the Early Learning Partnership of York County, and featured community partners Museum of Western York County, York County Public Library, and York School District 1 Parenting Partnerships. Students from the Floyd D Johnson Technology Center Early Childhood Education class created and facilitated many activities, the Manufacturing classes built the game boards, and kindergarten teachers and literacy coaches led programs at the event.
