Commencement Ceremony Information - Student Information

Arrival Times
Graduates should arrive by 9:00 AM. Gates will open for guests to begin entering at 9:00 am. Guests should enter the colored gate that corresponds to their ticket.
Tickets
• Each graduate will be provided with two color-coded tickets.
• Graduates must pick up their tickets on Monday, June 1st, at the Senior Pickup in front of YCHS. (10:00 am - 4:00 pm).Parking
• Graduates and guests should park in the lot assigned to their seating section.
• York Fire Department and York Police Department will be present to help direct cars to parking spaces and appropriate gates.Handicap Parking and Seating
• Handicapped parking will be available in Pride Circle.
• Handicapped attendees will need to have a handicap license plate or tag visible to parking attendants and officers directing traffic.
• Handicapped seating will be available between the upper and lower sections on the home side of the stadium and may be accessed using the Red, Blue, or Yellow Gate.Student Entrance to Stadium, Processional to and from Stage and Exit to Parking Lot
• Graduates will enter the stadium through entrance by the home Field House.
• Students will be directed to their assigned seat on the football field. Students must sit in their assigned seat in order to maintain the proper order for the processional across the stage.
• Each row of students will be directed on how to proceed to the stage and return to their seats by YCHS staff members. It is very important that students follow the directions from the staff to ensure names are called in proper order. There will be a staff member checking the order of students prior to students reaching the ramp.
• As the recessional is played at the end of the ceremony, staff will direct students on how to exit the stadium by rows.
• Students are to maintain social distancing requirements as they leave the stadium and must leave campus immediately after the ceremony to be in compliance with social distancing.Guest Entrance to Stadium and Exit to Parking Lot
• Handicapped parking will be available in Pride Circle.
• Handicapped attendees will need to have a handicap license plate or tag visible to parking attendants and officers directing traffic.
• Handicapped seating will be available between the upper and lower sections on the home side of the stadium and may be accessed using the Red, Blue, or Yellow Gate.Social Distancing and Medical Guidelines will be followed.
• Graduate seats will be placed six feet apart. That distance must be maintained.
• All students and guests may wear a mask while on campus and during the ceremony. Masks will be provided for graduates. Guests wishing to wear a mask should bring their own.
• When lines form, the six foot distance between individuals must be maintained. Staff will be on site to monitor and remind guests of this requirement.
• If you are immunocompromised, please exercise good judgement as to whether to attend.Emergency Medical Locations
• Emergency medical staff will be located in tents at the entrance to the stadium, as well as the Upper and Lower Concession Stands.
• Ambulance service will be on site.Restroom Facilities
• Graduates should use the restroom prior to arriving on campus.
Dress for Graduates
• All graduates are expected to wear their cap, gown, and 2020 tassel.
• Our traditional attire for graduation includes a white dress shirt and tie with black dress pants or a dress that does not show beneath the graduation gown. Traditional attire also includes black dress shoes. Students may adhere to our traditional attire for graduation; however, we will not be requiring a specific color of pants or shoes this year.
• Students wishing to wear their Senior T-Shirt instead of a shirt and tie may do so due to the expected heat.
• Please wear shoes that will not put you at risk for a trip or fall as you will be walk across the stage, track, and turf. We do not suggest heels.
• Remember to wear any cords, medallions or stoles you have been awarded by YCHS or FDJTC.
• Prepare for June weather. Wear sunscreen!Graduate Photographs
• Grad Images will be taking pictures of graduates as they cross the stage.
• Candid photography will be taken throughout the ceremony and posted to the district webpage and social media.
