On Tuesday evening, January 12, Elissa Cox, Director of Secondary Education, and Kevin Queen, Director of Safety, announced at the board meeting that York One schools would remain in their current instruction mode, outlined below, through the end of January 2021.
Current Instructional Mode:
- Students in PK – Grade 6 attend face-to-face school four days per week, with remote/eLearning learning on Wednesdays (SEE Day).
- Students in Grades 7 – 12 attend school on the Hybrid Model AA/SEE/BB.
In October 2020, York One School District developed a plan to start the 4+1 model (four days in-person and one day of eLearning) at YCHS, FDJTC, and YMS at the beginning of the 2nd semester (Tuesday, January 19, 2021). However, just before Christmas Break, the District communicated that this shift would not occur until there was sufficient time to determine the impact the holidays will have on the spread of COVID. At that time, the District communicated the next announcement regarding the shift to the 4+1 model would be made on January 19, 2021.
