Rising 4K Students

  • If your child is 4 years old on or BEFORE September 1st, 2020 – he/she may be eligible for 4K (CERDEP)*

    * To be eligible for the South Carolina Child Early Reading and Development Education Program (CERDEP) students must provide evidence of either Medicaid eligibility or a documented family income at or below 185% of the Federal Poverty definition promulgated annually by the US Department of Health and Human Services. Space in our CERDEP 4K program is limited and will be filled on a first come, first served basis of complete and qualified enrollment applications.

    At the Carnival, you will:

    • Schedule an appointment for registration and screening to be completed at the school your child will attend,
    • Receive information on all you will need for your registration and screening appointment, and
    • Get answers to your questions regarding the start of your child’s academic journey.

Rising 5K Students - New to York 1 Schools

  • If your child is 5 years old on or BEFORE September 1st, 2020 – he/she may attend Kindergarten

    At the Carnival, you will:

    • Schedule an appointment for registration and screening to be completed at the school your child will attend,
    • Receive information on all you will need for your registration and screening appointment, and
    • Get answers to your questions regarding the start of your child’s academic journey.
  • Registration Carnival

What will I do at the Carnival?

  • At the carnival, parents of 4 and 5 year olds new to the district will schedule an appointment time for registration and screening to be completed at the school your child will attendThose appointment dates for you and your child will be between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM on the following days:

    March 25: Cotton Belt Elementary

    March 26: Harold C Johnson Elementary

    March 31: Hickory Grove – Sharon Elementary

    April 1: Hunter Street Elementary

    April 2: Jefferson Elementary

    At this appointment, 4K and 5K students will complete a screening to measure school readiness. The parent will be able to complete registration information during the screening.

    In addition to scheduling your registration and screening appointment, you and your family will be able to meet community partners and district officials and learn about summer program opportunities, enjoy a hot dog, and bounce on inflatables and enjoy carnival-style games.

What if I do not have a new 4K or 5K student?

  • If you do not have a new 4K or 5K student, you and your family will still be able to enjoy the carnival!  We will have community partners and district officials with information about summer programs, athletic opportunities, and more. Come enjoy a free hot dog along with carnival-style games and inflatables.
