Meaningful Educational Resources for the Intellectually Talented
MERIT is the York One School District program for state identified gifted and talented students in grades two through eight.
MERIT students in grades 3-4 and 5-6 @ HGS
MERIT students in grades elementary grades (3rd - 4th) and intermediate grades (5th - 6th @ HGS) are served utilizing a pull-out program model. MERIT classes for these students begin the second week after school begins. The school days prior to the MERIT classes beginning allow students to readjust to the school environment and learn the classroom rules and procedures for the regular classrooms. The third grade students are pulled once a week for a half-day program. The remaining grades are pulled once a week for a full-day program.
MERIT students in grades 5- 8 (YIS & YMS)
MERIT students in grades 5- 8 (@ YIS & YMS) are served in a special class model. Students are served through their ELA, math, science, and/or social studies class. MERIT classes for these students begin the first day of school.
