Parenting Partnerships
What is Parenting Partnerships?
Parenting Partnerships and Family Resource Center prides itself in walking with families through child development in order to build a strong foundation of success for students and parents. Our mission is to support parents by providing education, information and resources that they can use in their role as their child's first and most important teacher. Parent Educators use the Parents as Teachers (PAT) curriculum for families with children from prenatal until their child is five and enters kindergarten. PAT is an evidence-based home visiting model that each Parent Educator is trained in. The Parents as Teachers curriculum provides a multi-level approach that addresses the child's developmental ages and stages and promotes positive parenting through teaching and providing experiences that will enhance their child's learning and better prepare them for school readiness. Parents gain knowledge through personal visits with a parent educator, parent group meetings, screenings and resource networks. Through using this model to support parents and families, expected outcomes include increased parent knowledge, improved parenting practices, early detection of developmental delays and health issues, prevention of child abuse and neglect, and increased children's school readiness and success.
Parenting Partnerships is housed with the Family Resource Center and offers other services such as Affinity Health Center, Tri-District Adult Education, and York Head Start. Through collaborative efforts with essential partners including, York County First Steps, Early Learning Partnership of York County, SC Children’s Trust, United Way of York County, and others, the center strives to empower families who may have not succeeded had it not been for the investment by the district and the community.
