Dr. Thomas Faulkenberry, Interim Superintendent
Dr. Faulkenberry began his career as a teacher and coach in Laurens County in 1969. Later, he taught science and coached football and basketball in Dillon School District Two. While in Dillon County, he moved into school administration at the school and district level. In 1984, Dr. Faulkenberry moved to York School District One where he served as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. In 1996, he moved to Newberry, SC where he was hired as Superintendent of Newberry County School District. After retiring in 2000, Dr. Faulkenberry returned to York School District One where he served as Interim Superintendent and Deputy Superintendent until 2005 when he moved to Converse College in Spartanburg, SC as Dean of the School of Education and Graduate Studies.
Dr. Faulkenberry completed undergraduate study at Erskine College, earned his master’s degree (M.Ed.) from Francis Marion College, and his doctorate (Ph.D.) from the University of South Carolina.
Dr. Faulkenberry and his wife, Nancy, have been married for 48 years and have two children, Kelly, who lives in Spartanburg, and Brian, who lives in Greenville. They have five grandchildren, Anna Wallace (14), Libby (12), Thomas (10), Sam (6) and Ollie (2).
