York One Academy Counseling Department
-
York One Academy’s Counseling Department provides wraparound services to give each student the support they need throughout the school day, whether the support is academic, social or behavioral. Our team works collaboratively to identify, develop, and implement interventions to prepare students to return to their home schools. Our focus at YOA is on BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION. Students will participate in a variety of interventions to achieve our focus. This includes various interventions by our staff, such as individual and group counseling, psychoeducational and social-emotional activities, career exploration, and other extracurriculars planned by our staff.

Adrienne Berry
I am excited to serve this school year as the School Counselor at York One Academy. My greatest joy is encouraging and supporting success in students. In my role, I will strive to help all students by providing a comprehensive program that meets their academic, personal/ social, and career development needs.
I strongly believe that every student has the ability to learn and grow in a safe, positive, and supportive environment where expectations are taught, modeled, and expected. I believe that every student deserves to be noticed (seen and heard), recognized, and celebrated. When students feel safe, share respect, build trusting relationships, and are recognized for their individual gifts, strengths, and unique abilities, they will reach their optimal learning capacities and potential.
I look forward to working with our students and transitioning in my role in our amazing, impactful program!

My name is Ms. SchrKya Massey, I am a Master’ level Social Worker with a historical background in child protective services and crisis management from New Jersey. When children/adolescents suffer through trauma and life stressors, it is not uncommon for their lives to unravel. Part of the mental health counseling goal will be to help students find a healthy perception of themselves, strengthen relationships, and establish healthy coping skills. While these tasks are far from easy, it will be worth it as, “Rome wasn’t built in a day.”- John Heywood
