Dr. Latoya Dixon Named Director of Elementary Programs and Gifted Education

 

Dr. Latoya Dixon Named Director of Elementary Programs and Gifted Education Dr. Latoya Dixon has been selected to serve as the new Director of Elementary Programs and Gifted Education in York School District One. The York School District One Board of Trustees approved the administrative appointment at its meeting on November 26, 2019.

 

Dr. Dixon comes to York School District One after most recently serving as the Director of the Office of School Transformation for the South Carolina Department of Education. While at the SC Department of Education, Dr. Dixon provided direction, leadership, and vision for the Office of School Transformation to promote effective educational practices in the state's public education system. She oversaw School Improvement programs throughout the state. 

 

As a school principal in South Carolina and North Carolina, Dr. Dixon's schools were recognized for improving student academic outcomes and exceeding proficiency projections in Reading and Math, earned multiple Palmetto Gold and Silver awards, and were recognized as a School of Character by the Character Education Partnership of South Carolina. 

 

Dr. Dixon is a lifelong York County resident. She will start her new position in January 2020.
