York School District One Board of Trustees Approves Administrative Appointments

On Tuesday, May 26, 2020, the York School District One Board of Trustees approved administrative changes for the 2020-2021 school year as recommended by Superintendent Kelly Coxe.

 

The following individuals begin their new duties in York School District One on July 1, 2020:

 

Elissa Cox Director of Secondary Education Elissa Cox has been named the district’s Director of Secondary Education. Since 2016 Ms. Cox has served as Principal of Saluda Trail Middle School in Rock Hill Schools and has worked at the secondary school level her entire career. As principal she developed successful strategies to increase student achievement in core areas, facilitated the continued development of curriculum maps, instructional activities and common assessments in school and district-wide Professional Learning Communities, and conducted analyses of instructional programs. She has also served as a high school assistant principal, program coordinator of math, science and advanced studies, and mathematics teacher.  Cox earned her Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Mathematics Education at Clemson University and has advanced degrees from The Citadel and Winthrop University. 

 

Susan Nichols will serve as assistant principal at York Comprehensive High School.  She has been a mathematics teacher at YCHS since 2006, where she has also served as the Middle College Program Coordinator and assisted with testing administration.  Nichols was selected as the York Comprehensive High School Teacher of the Year in 2009.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Winthrop University and has advanced degrees from Winthrop University and Columbia College.

 

Hannah Rescigno joins Harold C. Johnson Elementary School as the assistant principal after serving the same role at York Middle School for two years.  Rescigno also taught mathematics at York Middle School for eight years and was selected as York Middle School’s Teacher of the Year in 2017. Rescigno holds a Bachelor of Arts in Middle Level Education and a Master of Education degree from the University of South Carolina.
