York School District One Announces Administrative Appointment

 

District Instructional Facilitator; will begin role July 2021.

 

District Instructional Facilitator Named: April AulmerApril Aulmer was named the District Instructional Facilitator for York School District One.  April Aulmer is currently the principal at Queen City STEM School in Charlotte, North Carolina.

 

Aulmer brings over 20 years of experience in education to her role in York School District One.  Aulmer began her career as a middle level mathematics teacher near Columbia, South Carolina, a role she held at multiple schools for nearly 15 years. As a classroom teacher she was twice named Teacher of the Year.

 

In 2013 Aulmer became a middle school assistant principal in Rock Hill Schools. She coordinated Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), summer school programs, and lead professional development opportunities for staff members.

 

Aulmer became principal of Queen City STEM School in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 2019. As principal, she focused on building productive relationships with parents and students.  She facilitated continued education for the teaching staff by creating and implementing quality curriculum training and appropriation of necessary resources.  Aulmer also established instructional practices driven by statistical performance data.

 

Aulmer earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of South Carolina – Aiken. She earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Winthrop University.  She holds elementary and secondary Principal certification in South Carolina and elementary Principal certification in North Carolina. Aulmer is also Project Based Learning endorsed by the South Carolina Department of Education.

 

The District Instructional Facilitator role is new to York School District One. The District Instructional Facilitator will assist with the development and design of a defined program of study to ensure vertical and horizontal alignment of curriculums.  Additional responsibilities of the District Instructional Facilitator include the planning and execution of coordinated and cohesive training opportunities, instructional models, and collaboration structures, all aligned with district and school initiatives and strategic plans. The position will report to the Director of Secondary Programs.
