York School District One Announces Appointment of Assistant Superintendent for Academic Innovation & Professional Learning


At a Special Called Meeting on June 2, 2022, the Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Dr. Latoya Dixon to the role of Assistant Superintendent of Academic Innovation & Professional Learning. Dr. Dixon will officially begin her role on July 1, 2022.

Dr. Dixon has served in York School District One since January 2020 as the Director of Elementary Programs and Gifted Education. Prior to joining York School District One, Dr. Dixon served as the Director of the Office of School Transformation for the South Carolina Department of Education.

As a school principal in South Carolina and North Carolina, Dr. Dixon's schools were recognized for improving student academic outcomes and exceeding proficiency projections in Reading and Math, earned multiple Palmetto Gold and Silver awards, and were recognized as a School of Character by the Character Education Partnership of South Carolina. 

Dr. Dixon has provided direction, leadership, and vision at the state, district, and school levels, promoting effective educational practices. 

Dr. Dixon is a lifelong York County resident.
