On Monday, August 7th, 2023 WBTV News covered YSD1 First Day of School as well as the exciting opportunities ahead for the 2023-2024 school year! This includes YSD1 being one of only two districts approved by South Carolina Department of Education to implement competency-based educational practices.

Competency Based Education provides an avenue for academic innovation and an opportunity to maximize student learning opportunities beyond traditional practices. By removing what can often become unintended barriers in meeting the unique needs of students, YSD1 will support students' journey towards discovering the intersection between their strengths and their passions.
